Since its launch in September 1999, Space Imaging's IKONOS earth imaging satellite has provided a reliable stream of image data that has become the standard for commercial high-resolution satellite data products. IKONOS produces 1-meter black-and-white (panchromatic) and 4-meter multispectral (red, blue, green, near infrared) imagery that can be combined in a variety of ways to accommodate a wide range of high-resolution imagery applications.

IKONOS Products

Geo 1m & 4m

  • 1-meter and 4-meter
  • 15-meter CE90 not including effects of terrain
    NMAS N/A.
  • Geo 1-meter and 4-meter IKONOS products are ideal for visual and interpretive applications such as asset assessment and image visualization that do not require high positional accuracy.
  • Geo products are geometrically corrected to a map projection. The correction process removes image distortions introduced by the collection geometry and re-samples the imagery to a uniform ground sample distance (GSD) and a specified map projection.
  • Geo images comprising an order are not mosaicked, and tonal variations may be evident between images.

 

Geo Ortho Kit 1m & 4m

  • 1-meter and 4-meter
  • 15-meter CE90 not including effects of terrain

  • Geo Ortho Kit image products are tailored for sophisticated users requiring high positional accuracy.
  • A subset of the Geo product line, the Geo Ortho Kit is tailored for users such as photogrammetrists who want to control the orthorectification process.
  • Geo Ortho Kit images include the camera geometry obtained at the time of the image collection. With the Geo Ortho Kit, users can produce their own highly accurate orthorectified products by utilizing commercial off the shelf (COTS) software, digital elevation models, and optional ground control.
  • IKONOS collects 1m and 4m Geo Ortho Kit imagery at an elevation angle between 60 and 90 degrees. To increase the positional accuracy of the final orthorectified imagery, users can upgrade IKONOS' elevation angle to be between 72 and 90 degrees.
